What I want FiftyRoutes to help you do
A hotel can look wonderful and still be the wrong base. A cruise can visit the places you want while leaving less usable time ashore than another sailing. A road trip can fit on a map and ask too much of a family in one day. These are the decisions our guides should make easier.
We cover city breaks, national parks, islands, road trips and cruises. The destination guide explains the place. Accommodation and activity guides help narrow the choice. Routes connect the decisions into days, with room for a meal, a rest and a changed plan.
Personal experience and researched guides
My travel background is real. It does not mean I have stayed at every US hotel, joined every tour or sailed every ship on this site. The initial FiftyRoutes US guides and blog are researched editorial work. They are not presented as firsthand hotel reviews or accounts of trips I have not taken.
Operator pages establish what a property or tour offers. Park authorities establish the rules of a park. Our contribution is the comparison: where a choice fits, what it gives up, and how it changes the rest of the trip. Where a detail is unknown, we say so.
A future firsthand report will identify the experience and its date. A provider’s claim, an editorial estimate and a personal observation should never be interchangeable.
Who is responsible for the publication?
I am the publisher and the contact for editorial corrections. FiftyRoutes is the named editorial author of the initial researched guides. My profile is not used to imply that I personally tested every recommendation.
Our editorial policy describes the source hierarchy and update process. Each guide includes the sources behind its practical information. Rules, fees, schedules and available departures can change; confirm the trip-specific details with the operator before paying.
How booking recommendations work
FiftyRoutes helps you compare travel services. Hotels, guides, cruise lines and rental companies operate those services and take the booking payment. We do not run our own tours or accept payment for their bookings.
When an approved booking link can earn a commission, it carries a clear explanation beside the link. A property does not need a commission program to be included. Read the commercial disclosure before following a booking recommendation.
Start with the decision you need to make
- Find a trip for your dates, group and transport.
- Choose a neighborhood or park base before choosing a hotel.
- Read practical comparisons when two appealing options are hard to separate.
- Compare the complete hotel cost using your own quotes.
Tell me what needs correcting
If a source has changed, a link reaches the wrong place or a guide leaves out a useful constraint, use Contact & corrections. Include the page and the detail so I can review it. You can also follow TravelTribe on Telegram.
