When this region works
Spring and fall often suit lower-elevation outdoor plans. Bryce and other high places can be cold while desert towns are warm; midsummer heat changes the timing and suitability of walks.

Start with one of three coherent trips: Zion and Bryce, a longer Utah parks route, or Las Vegas–Grand Canyon–Sedona. Moab has its own Arches-and-Canyonlands cluster; it is not a quick add-on to every Zion weekend.

Utah · 2–3 days
Choose Springdale for a first visit built around Zion Canyon. Choose the east side for a quieter base and east-side scenery, accepting a drive to the main visitor center. Two nights beat a rushed stop between Las Vegas and Bryce.
When: Spring and fall for lower-elevation walks; conditions matter more than the month.
Getting around: Useful to reach the park; the canyon shuttle handles many trailheads in its operating season.

Arizona · 2–3 days
For a first visit, build the trip around the South Rim and choose a base before choosing a hotel. Grand Canyon West is a separate destination outside the national park; a ticket advertised simply as “Grand Canyon” may take you there.
When: Spring and fall for rim walks; winter brings ice and summer brings heat below the rim.
Getting around: Useful for arrival; South Rim shuttles connect many viewpoints.

Arizona · 2–4 days
Uptown suits a first visit with restaurants close by. West Sedona makes errands and a longer stay easier. The Village of Oak Creek puts you near Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, with a separate drive to Uptown.
When: Spring and fall for walking; summer requires an early start and a heat-aware plan.
Getting around: Useful for the region; trailhead shuttles can replace some drives.

Nevada · 2–4 days
Stay on the central Strip for a first visit focused on shows and resorts. Choose Downtown for Fremont Street and a different evening scene. If this is the start of a Southwest road trip, collect the car when the driving begins.
When: Cooler months make walking easier; desert outings need a separate weather check.
Getting around: Skip it for a Strip-focused stay; consider one for a regional road trip.

Utah · 3–4 days
Stay in town for easy meals and trip supplies. A farther-out cabin or campground suits a trip with time at the property, but adds driving to food and park access.
When: Spring and fall for walking; summer heat changes the daily schedule.
Getting around: Useful for the national parks and dispersed trailheads.
