Give an Epic Universe day its own hotel decision
Universal Helios Grand Hotel is a different location choice from a hotel near CityWalk and the original two theme parks. Compare the entrance you will use each morning before paying for a benefit attached to another park.
For a holiday that includes several Universal parks, mark each park day first. A hotel chosen for Epic Universe access and a Royal Pacific stay chosen for the published Express package serve different parts of that calendar. Price a hotel move against keeping one base and using the resort transport.

Give bedtime the same attention as the lobby photograph
Choose the suite because the sleeping arrangement works: a separate bedroom is useful when children go to bed earlier, while a sleeper sofa means setting up the living space each evening. Compare the actual layouts at Cabana Bay, Art of Animation and Drury rather than booking any room with “family” in its description.
Put room charges, mandatory fees, overnight parking and the transport you will use into one stay total. Drury advertises no resort fee but charges for parking. Cabana Bay’s airport transfer is a separate paid service. A hotel move between Disney and Universal may improve a long holiday; on a short visit, price the lost afternoon as well as the taxi.
When does a city base belong in this trip?
Use a city-led base when Downtown, gardens and non-park Orlando occupy a substantial part of the visit. For repeated park mornings, a distant room trades some of its apparent saving for journeys and coordination. Test that version with the actual number of park days.
For a long holiday divided between Disney and Universal, a single planned hotel move can be useful. For a short stay, it often consumes the afternoon you wanted to spend outside. Compare the whole itinerary before deciding that two hotel names mean two better experiences.
