Which shore—or which city neighborhood?
Hotel del Coronado is a Coronado beachfront resort with different accommodation neighborhoods. Catamaran is a Mission Bay property with different view categories. La Valencia places the stay in La Jolla village. None is the same geography as a Downtown hotel.
The Guild occupies a former Armed Services YMCA building in Downtown. Lafayette offers a North Park-area setting on El Cajon Boulevard. Choose those for the city or neighborhood they serve, not as beach rooms that happen to have a San Diego address.

A water view and usable family space are separate features
At Catamaran, bay, ocean and garden-view categories are different products. At Hotel del Coronado, the selected accommodation neighborhood and room define the stay. Read the room category for its view, beds and layout before paying extra for the waterfront setting.
Map the first coastal outing and the evening return before paying. For a family, confirm the beds and usable room space. For mobility needs, ask about the actual room and the chosen beach or park route separately; a hotel feature does not establish access to every shore.
Use one base for a short coastal stay
For two nights, choose the coast cluster you most want and give Balboa Park or the city a separate outing. Moving from one coastal hotel to another can use the afternoon you hoped to spend outdoors.
