A squares-and-interior plan with a distinct evening-tour choice.

Choose the subject before the tour format
A history-focused walk should tell you which period, people and places it explains. A ghost tour offers another kind of evening. Compare their route, listening time and ending point; do not treat supernatural stories as established facts about the city.
A trolley or other vehicle format changes the amount of walking, but its participation and boarding conditions still need an exact-product check. With younger children, a shorter shared route and park interval may be more useful than the longest tour advertised.

Choose by time and effort
Check the official visitor information for current access, booking requirements and restrictions in Savannah before choosing dates or paying. The previous operational note is awaiting a fresh review.Historic buildings may have stairs, small bathrooms and limited parking. Ask about the exact room, elevator and access route instead of relying on a general “accessible” filter.
Time allowances below are our planning suggestions, including room for an unhurried visit. A specific tour’s duration, group size and ticket conditions must be confirmed with its operator.
| Activity | Allow | Starting area | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Squares and Forsyth Park | Half day at an easy pace | Historic District | Self-guided or guided history walk |
| A historic-house or museum visit | A few hours | The selected museum entrance | Ticketed, often with timed tours |
| Tybee Island day | Full day with travel | Tybee Island | Self-guided |
What each option gives you
Squares and Forsyth Park
A first introduction to the city’s street plan.
- Allow
- Half day at an easy pace
- Start
- Historic District
- Tradeoff
- Heat, uneven paving and stairs affect route choice.
- Booking
- A guided tour should disclose walking distance and rest breaks.
A historic-house or museum visit
Visitors who want historical context and an indoor interval.
- Allow
- A few hours
- Start
- The selected museum entrance
- Tradeoff
- Choose interpretation carefully, including the history of enslaved people.
- Booking
- Verify the exact tour, access arrangements and cancellation terms.
Tybee Island day
Adding a beach to a longer Savannah trip.
- Allow
- Full day with travel
- Start
- Tybee Island
- Tradeoff
- It is not an efficient add-on to an already full city day.
- Booking
- Check beach conditions, parking and attraction hours.
Put the days in a workable order
- Walk a compact group of squares and get oriented before a reserved dinner.
- Combine Forsyth Park with one history-focused visit and an unhurried riverfront stop.
- Use an extra day for Tybee, or stay in town if you prefer to avoid another transfer.
The city between paid visits is worth time
Use Forsyth Park and the squares for the open interval, then choose Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters when you want to understand the lives behind the historic facades. It is a history-led visit, distinct from an evening ghost story. Let it be the substantial interpretation block rather than one more stop in a rushed sequence of interiors.
Keep the house and central squares together, with the riverfront as another interval. The main house has original stairs and no elevator; compare the detailed access information before booking for someone avoiding steps. Telfair Academy or Jepson Center supplies a different collection-led choice. The right alternative depends on interest and access, rather than the number of attractions covered.

Pick one outside-city outing
Wormsloe and Tybee create different additions: a historic-landscape visit or a beach day. Choose the reason first, then the actual access and transport. A short weekend has more room for one well-timed excursion than for both plus every city tour.
Keep a city-led alternative for a day when outdoor conditions change the coast plan. The named providers below define their actual products and calendars; the editorial sequence does not guarantee a departure or current admission.

Named activities you can investigate
Choose the product, departure and participation requirements before paying. An admission ticket, guided walk and boat trip are different experiences.
