A five-hotel shortlist that makes the bridge crossing and room products explicit.
All topics and planning links
Which side of the bridge should the room be on?
Francis Marion, The Ryder and The Dewberry are Downtown choices with different formats. The Dewberry occupies a restored mid-century building at Marion Square. At Francis Marion, compare the historic hotel room with The Ryder’s pool-led stay or The Dewberry’s named suite and flat categories.
Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant and The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina put the base on the other side of the bridge. Their pool or waterfront setting can be the reason for choosing them, but it should not be confused with a peninsula room a short walk from every historic visit.

Location before the room
Optional for downtown; helpful for beaches and sites outside the peninsula.

- Downtown peninsula
- Mount Pleasant
- Folly Beach

A pool does not answer the location question
The Ryder lists an outdoor pool in a Downtown hotel setting. Hotel Indigo’s resort-style pool belongs to a Mount Pleasant property. Decide whether the stay is mainly an urban weekend with a pool interval or a different waterfront-and-coastal trip.
For a family, compare bedding, usable space and the actual return from dinner. Ask the hotel about the route to the selected room, the view category and any boat transport you intend to use. Those details matter more than a general waterfront address.

Keep two holiday styles distinct
For a short history weekend, one Downtown base avoids repeated unpacking. For a coast-led holiday, a separate coastal address can be a sensible choice with a planned city day. Do not buy the second version while expecting the daily convenience of the first.
The final bill needs current property quotes, compulsory charges and parking where relevant. Compare cancellation and the actual dates, especially when an event changes availability. Unknown costs stay unknown in the tools rather than becoming a guessed “cheap” stay.
